As Frank Ifield named Johanna Hemara the 2010 International Spur Award winner at Canterbury Country on 11 March all eyes were on the UK chart to see if her first UK release would be there. At 10:45pm the charts came out and Johanna had entered at #18 but the biggest surprise to all was that Nicki’s Be a Star had remained at #1 for the fourth week. Well done Frank, two Spur Award winners in the chart this week....
On Friday 12 March the new European charts were released showing Chasing Cars from Nicki and Bob Howe’s “Collaboration” CD had gone to #2 in Denmark.
To congratulate Nicki for her first #1, her management company, in association with her UK touring Band (Cozy Dixon, Dave Clemo and Bob Howe), presented Nicki with a commemorative plaque. A special release of 30 “Be A Star” b/w “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” singles were pressed for sale at Canterbury Country.
